Elif Saydam (b. 1985, Calgary, Canada) is a Turkish-Canadian artist, writer and performer. Recent exhibitions include a solo presentation of paintings at Kunstverein Nürnberg in 2016 and performances in La Biennale de Montreal and Made in Germany Drei, Hannover, 2017. Saydam graduated from the Staedelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Meisterschulerin 2016. With an emphasis on language and symbology, she uses fiction, theatre and painting to perform conflicting narratives and traverse the tension found in irreconcilable difference. Current interests include the relationship of humour to fear. Saydam lives somewhere between Berlin and Izmir.

For the Studio Sunday on September 24th, Saydam will be presenting the Virginia Woolf essay 'Street Haunting' (1930), followed by a group discussion around the notion of the Alibi. Börek and refreshments.
